Eurocentres Atlantic Canada’s team of qualified teachers is dedicated to improving your English language proficiency for academic, general, or professional purposes. All of our EAL teachers hold a Bachelor of Education and/or are TESL certified (or equivalent). We care, and it shows in and out of the classroom.

Nicola Sattler

Co-Owner/Academic Director
B.A., B.Ed., TESL Cert.

Nicola is the Academic Director and English Language Instructor at Eurocentres Atlantic Canada. Her career as a second language teacher began over 15 years ago in Spain. Since then, she has taught groups and individual learners of all ages and levels of proficiency. Her own experiences as a language learner, combined with her familiarity of living and traveling abroad, complement her formal pedagogical training and strong intuitions in the teaching profession.


Alden Darville

Co-Owner/Director of Marketing & Recruitment

Alden is the other half of the Eurocentres Atlantic Canada ownership team. Before joining forces with Nicola Sattler, he worked as a telecommunications consultant and owned and operated a successful bookstore/cafe in Mahone Bay. Alden brings his entrepreneurial skills, enthusiasm, and a natural interest in people to Eurocentres as the head of Marketing & Recruitment.

Erin Murley

School Manager
Admissions & Pathway

Erin is a 2011 graduate of Saint Mary’s University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and English. Throughout her university career, she was fortunate to work extensively with international students and spent several summers exploring Nova Scotia with students from all over the world. Erin will often be your first point of contact at the school and will generally be the one to help you with your admissions procedure as well as the pathway program.

Rebecca (Becky) Flores

Marketing & Special Projects (Latin America)

Becky, originally from Mexico, moved to Canada in 2012. She loves the winter and enjoys exploring the landscapes that surround Nova Scotia year-round. She sees Canada as her second home. Becky completed her Bachelors Degree in Law at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, and brings her care and attention to each and every student and project. She understands the challenges and shares the joys that newcomers experience here. She will ensure students get the most from their experience and that their time with Eurocentres Atlantic Canada is a memorable and rewarding one.

Stefan Ramey

Student Services / Events Coordinator

Stefan is a lifelong resident of Nova Scotia. He loves hiking and also owns his own recording studio and music store. Stefan has a Bachelor of Arts from Dalhousie University and has spent 2 years living and teaching English in South Korea. He uses his experience from living abroad to understand the challenges faced by students arriving in Nova Scotia for the first time.

Chitra Bhatia

Immigration Consultant

Originally from Delhi, India, Chitra immigrated to Canada in 2011. A strategic leader and consultant with over 20 years global experience in the areas of business and operations, strategic planning, marketing and consulting, Chitra holds a Master’s of Science in Consultancy Management from BITS Pilani. Chitra works with Eurocentres students who require assistance to obtain their visa. She is meticulous, dependable, and strongly believe that success in life comes when you simply refuse to give up.


Paula Cheal

EAL Teacher
B.Ed., M.Ed., TEFL

Paula started her career as an elementary school teacher in England and when in search of adventure, retrained to teach EFL to adults. She taught in the Czech Republic and Estonia and eventually continued her EFL career in the UK while gaining her Masters in TEFL. In 2011, she moved to Nova Scotia with her family and loves living on the South Shore! Paula has experience teaching academic, general, and professional English and is a core teacher in all of Eurocentres EAL programs.

Amanda Hynes

Amanda (Mandy) Hynes

EAL Teacher
B.A., B.Ed., ECE

As a 2001 graduate, Mandy obtained her teaching degree in Primary/Elementary Education. Soon after graduating, she was hired at a private school with a large Korean ESL population. It was there that she realized her true calling. Throughout the years Mandy has held various EAL positions and worked with students of all ages and languages. Mandy is currently working as a substitute teacher at Eurocentres.

Tara Gros

EAL Teacher
B.Comm, TESL

After nearly 20 years working in business in the fields of accounting, operations, and most recently marketing and communications, Tara has returned to her first love of words and languages. “Coaching a classroom full of students exploring creative ways to communicate in English is a very exciting and fun way to spend the day!” In her free time, Tara loves to travel and enjoys the clean and beautiful Nova Scotian outdoors with her husband and two children.



Cassandra Amaya

EAL Teacher
B.A., M.A., TESL Lvl.2

Cassandra began her EAL career teaching children in Mexico and Mexican farm workers in the Okanagan Valley of B.C. Shortly afterward she became an instructor with the LINC federal language program in B.C. and enjoyed it so much that she taught EAL to adult immigrants for the next ten years. Having experienced what it is like to arrive in another country and be challenged to learn a new language, Cassandra always tries to look at her classroom from the students’ perspective and strives to make her lessons engaging and enjoyable. She has recently relocated to beautiful Mahone Bay, N.S. and is delighted to be part of the team at Eurocentres.


Jason Belliveau-Wood

French (Youth)

After completing the French immersion program at l’Universite Sainte-Anne in Churchpoint, N.S., Jason moved to Halifax, N.S. where he pursued his B.A. in French and English at Mount St. Vincent University. He then completed his B.Ed at Crandall University. Jason has focused his teaching on grades 6-9 Core French and French Immersion and has also had the chance to teach a variety of subjects from P-12, including Social Studies, Health, Math, and Music.


Janice Rogers

French (Adults)

Proudly of Acadian descent, Janice began teaching Core French in beautiful Lunenburg County at all levels until the final years of her career when she taught Immersion (Grade 4), incorporating the drama and music that are so natural to her. She is happy to be continuing to work with adults at this stage of her life and brings a wonderful presence to the school.



Karen Wentzell


Karen earned her B.Sc at Acadia University. She went on to study secondary level teaching methods and earned her B.Ed from Mount Saint Vincent University. She studied for her MA (curriculum development and administration) from St. Mary’s University. In recent years, she returned to the math cohort to study mathematic subjects at St. Mary’s University. During 35 years of teaching in the public school system, Karen has taught a variety of subjects at various levels from mentally challenged to the gifted program in Dartmouth. She understands that people learn in many different ways and enjoys the challenge of finding that ‘way’ for all of her students.


Avenhay (Avi) Viniegra


Avi was born in Monterrey, Neuvo Leon, Mexico and moved with her husband and daughter to the South Shore from Toronto in 2007. Avi enjoys being around other people, loves to talk, and looks forward to helping new students learn her native tongue and more about the Spanish culture. She can also help you prepare for your next vacation in a Latin country!
