Hardest session of prep? 😈 RDL 2x160kgx8,6 Leg curl 3x20,16,14 Hack 2x130kgx11+4,8+3 Leg ex 2x20,18 Lunges myorep - 34,24 My 4th mesocycle of prep, week prior to deloading/peaking & thus all 0RIR & heavily fatigued. This may be the hardest session of prep, given next week is deload/peak & then all my other shows are quite grouped together I won’t still such a string of hard training & dieting for a while. So it’s incredibly rewarding to walk away from this workout with numbers pretty much retained from the start of prep. I’ve dropped a rep on my RDLs & actually my hacks have improved since meso 1 by nearly 10kg. In previous preps my performance dropped off a TONNE & I think it showed in my look & thus - the retention is showing in my look this time 👀 One big takeaway has been really looking to maximise performance vs. chasing volume or novelty. Most of my movements have stayed the same since the start of prep, only modifying rep ranges or including a few additional movements or rotating where very stale. This has allowed me to really closely monitor performance on these core movements & fight to retain numbers week on week, meso on meso. If I pushed too much volume for the sake of performance/quality or changed for novelty I would lose this barometer & possibly be ignorant to drops in muscle tissue. Granted holding numbers isn’t always expected or possible, but I think if you do a lot right, you stack the cards in your favour, you can hold them steady 💪 Pretty much a week out from @ukdfba international finals & from Monday I’ll be filling myself up & focussing on dropping fatigue - I am excited to see how I look as I’ve been pushing my body hard & refeeds aren’t touching the sides, stay tuned! 🧵T shirt by @itskoshiro highly recommend #PeakWeek #LegDay #NaturalBodybuilding #UKDFBA

#168 Steve Hall Strength Chat

In this weeks Strength Chat, I got the opportunity to speak with the Founder of Revive Stronger and competitive bodybuilder, Steve Hall. The content and information that Steve puts out there, as well as his own podcast he produces, is awesome. From his own experiences and education, the results he gets with his clients and his approach to training is so effective, and something I buy into. Therefore, in this episode, we chatted about the pros and cons of using science when coaching and programming, as well as trusting the process.
