  • Fabric (excluding samples) can be returned for a full refund less shipping charges within 30 days of receipt of fabric.

  • No returns on sale items discounted 75% or more.

  • Please note return shipping will be higher than the special rate of $4.99 we charge. Expect to pay $15.00 or more per package for return shipping. Return shipping cost is based on distance, package dimensions, and weight. ** Returns from Canada may be cost prohibitive.
  • Before Cutting: Confirm the accuracy of your order before any cuts are made. Examine fabric for pattern, color, yardage and quality before cutting. No claims will be allowed after it has been processed in any way. When sending fabric directly to a seamstress or upholsterer we recommend ensuring they check the fabric against the swatch you provide. We do not offer refunds of fees associated with finished goods.
  • Return shipping must be pre-paid and will not be refunded.
  • We ask that you also include a copy of your invoice with the return
  • Original shipping charges will not be refunded. Return authorization Not Required.
  • Fabric must be in new, uncut condition and kept in a smoke free environment.

  • A refund will be issued after fabric is received and inspected. Refunds may take up to 14 days to process.

I also ordered from fabricguru.com thinking it was a good deal. When I received the fabric it wasn't at all the colors it appeared to be online. When I contacted them about returning it so I could pick something else out, I was told I would have to ship it back at my own cost which would have been over $15. I did not receive what I believed I was ordering and will not order from them again.

I ordered fabric from Fabric Guru. I was told via phone that the material was first quality. Fortunately for me, I bought the remaining 13.7yds on the bolt. When my upholsterer went to use the material he showed me how on both sides of the actual stripe print there were majors flaws on both sides 8"" in. wide down the length of the yardage. He could only use the center portion.

I do not recommend that anyone order from this company. They truly misrepresented the quality of the material.

Is the price per yard or all yards listed?

Remnants are priced for the entire amount listed. Example: 10 yards for $59.98. We do have a huge selection of fabric that is sold by the yard. The price and yards available will be listed.

Many times we do. Use the search box or the advanced search located at the top-center of each page to help find additional pieces. Two fabrics look the same but are described a little different, are they the same?

If the fabrics are the same in the picture then they are the same fabric. Each fabric is listed on our web site individually. One highly experienced person, Liz, writes the description for every fabric we have. We add hundreds of new fabrics each week and may get duplicate fabrics weeks apart. Sometimes the description of colors and patterns are a little different. We do the best to describe each fabric accurately and use the highest quality images available. Dye lots can vary especially in printed fabrics. If two or more pieces of the same pattern and color are purchased at the same time we will compare the fabrics before shipping to make sure the fabrics are a match. We will contact you before shipping if there is a problem.

How much is shipping?

We ship any size fabric order via FedEx Ground or USPS for only $4.99 in the continental US. We ship any number of samples via USPS for only $3 ($10 to Canada). Next day and second day shipping is available on fabric orders. The cost will is determined using your zip code during checkout. Please email or call us with any shipping questions. How long will it take to get my order?

Most orders are shipped within 1-2 business days. Samples ship in 2-3 business days. Arrival times depend on your location. Our shipping suppliers are currently reporting 1-3 day delays, depending upon facility. What’s the difference between “by the yard” fabric and remnants?

Remnants are “leftover” pieces from larger, by the yard, bolts of fabric. Whenever we have below 5 (?) yards of fabric left on a “by the yard” bolt, we convert it to a remnant and sell the whole yardage as one piece. By the yard is great for larger projects or specific yardage requirements, but remnants are perfect for smaller projects or just when you need a little fabric to sew with.

Can I use drapery fabric in an upholstery project? Vice versa?

Drapery fabric is traditionally less resilient than upholstery fabric, so while it’s certainly possible to use it for upholstery applications, it isn’t recommended for high traffic areas, it’s better for decorative or throw pillows. Upholstery fabric can certainly be used as drapes, though upholstery fabrics tend to be a bit stiffer than drapery.

Some of the fabrics in The Fabric Cellar are flawed, what do the flaws mean?

Occasionally we get fabric seconds or otherwise flawed pieces of material, but that doesn’t mean they’re useless! We carefully inspect every piece that comes through our doors, and obsessively note every flaw. We also take an individual picture of each flawed piece, just to make it easier for our customers to make an informed purchase decision. You might find that some flaws won’t affect your project as much as others, shop smart!

How is your fabric rolled onto the tube?

All rolled fabric is rolled with the face of the fabric on the inside. This is to ensure that if any damage is done to the packaging in shipping, the fabric will still remain clean on the front side. When you receive a roll, make sure to check both sides of the fabric before making any judgements.

I ordered fabric last night at 4:50 pm online, no where on the main site does it say it is a U.S. company, nor does it say U.S. funds. (This site came up in my google search for Canadian Upholstery). After discussing my order with my sister she explained the duty fees, added to exchange rate, I knew I couldn't afford all the extra charges, I immediately tried to email the company back to cancel. Well, guess what, you CANNOT reply back to their email. So I started calling, well, guess what, they DO NOT ANSWER THEIR PHONE! I waited on hold, it asks if you would like to leave a message, which I did numerous times, but then decided to wait on hold even if it takes all day, welll, GUESS WHAT... it eventually clicks you off so YOU NEVER GET TO SPEAK WITH AN ACTUAL PERSON! I called the next morning and all day, same thing! I then got an email at 3:30 pm stating they had shipped my order! Thanks Fabric Guru, in this time of Covid 19 when finances are ridiculously tight for all of us, you have NO EMPATHY! I bet if I was leaving a message saying I wanted to add to my order they would have attended to that matter immediately! Not impressed with customer service! I cannot comment on quality of fabric. Very disappointed so far!

UPDATE: I received a phone call from Alex 10 minutes after leaving (another message to Fabric Guru) stating I was very upset they had sent out my order and that I was going to write a negative review, she notified me that she called FedEx and requested they return my fabric to the store and that she would refund my order immediately. VERY THANKFUL to Alex! Thankyou for calling me! Communication is key to customer service, wish they had called sooner as I stressed (on top of Pandemic stress) for 20 unnecessary hours.
